You know, home prices have tripled in the last ten years but the rate realtor’s charge for their commission has stayed the same, which means, in dollars, their income has tripled. Has yours? Do you really think its reasonable for anyone to be able to charge 300% more for the same service, doing the same thing, often for the same company?
And it’s not just Sellers that are paying these exorbitant fees, it’s Buyers too. Most Buyers think that a Realtor’s fees for them are free. But it’s like that free whistle in your box of Cheerios. Do you really think it’s free? Of course you don’t, you know it’s been costed in to the price of the product along with everything else. And it’s the same thing with Real Estate. In a Real Estate transaction there is only one source of money to pay the Seller, the Seller’s Realtor, the Buyer’s Realtor, the Seller’s lawyer, the Buyer’s lawyer – YOU! Wouldn’t it be nice to get some of it back?
The good news is that, with the ridiculously high margins that Realtors enjoy in this market, it offers a real opportunity for me to give consumers a break, offer exactly the same service as the competition, gain market share for myself, and still make a good living.
